(My sentiments on first seeing a Battletech game)
I started a thread over on the classicbattletech.com forums that asks:
1) What kind of experience did you have when you first encountered Battletech? How old were you?
2) What goes through your mind when you get an itch to play?

On a separate note, “Grabula” at Homebrew Gamer hits on some of the base qualities of the game (or the fiction of the game at least) that characterize it most for him.
